‘RIO’ the movie -Plot
This update of the Angry Birds game is a tie-in with the upcoming animated film Rio. Rio is about a pair of rare Blue Macaws, Blu and Jewel, who are the last of their kind. Blu, who lives in Minnesota with his owner, is flown to Rio to meet with Jewel. The two escape from a lab and try to make their way home to the rain forest. The voice cast includes Jesse Eisenberg as Blu and Anne Hathaway as Jewel and also features Jaime Foxx, George Lopez, Tracy Morgan and Jane Lynch. The new game follows the basic plot of the original Angry Birds – only it substitutes poachers for thieving pigs and adds Blu and Jewel to the avian cast – as well as the same basic gameplay.
Angry Birds Rio – Gameplay
In the Angry Birds Rio game, the Angry Birds are kidnapped by poachers and whisked away to Rio de Janeiro. Escaping their captors, they discover a warehouse full of rare and endangered birds, including Blu and Jewel, and it is up to them to free their feathered friends using their weapon of choice – the dreaded slingshot that launches them at their enemies. Each bird also has its own special abilities that you can unleash to ensure the success of your attack. With the right shot, you can smash your way through any barrier from crates to stone and glass and even TNT. And in later levels, you can even demolish the hideouts of the smugglers’ marmoset cronies. Apart from environments inspired by the film, expect to see old friends and new allies join in the fray, such as the Black Bird and the Boomerang Bird.
With careful study of each birds’ abilities plus how each material reacts when hit, you’ll be able to create chain reactions to ensure you achieve coveted three-star ratings for every level. The game comes with sixty Rio-themed levels that let you play in two unique environments: the warehouse that serves as the Smuggler’s Den and the Jungle Escape level set in a rainforest clearing with snow-capped mountains in the background. Each level is enhanced not just with realistic sound effects but a Brazilian-inspired twist to the familiar Angry Birds theme – the Angry Birds Rio Samba. More levels are set to arrive for the game in May, July, October and November 2011.
